چکیده
Intramuscular lipoma is rare benign tumour rarely located in the head and neck region. It arises between muscle fibres passes through intermuscular septa. Due to infiltrative nature of tumour, recurrence rate higher than other subcutaneous lipomas. Complete surgical excision often regarded as a definitive treatment modality longterm follow-up mandatory. Here we report case 49-year-old male presenting with huge left mass measuring 12 × 10 cm, which was successfully removed. Computed tomography scan showed well-defined septated lesion fat component right sternocleidomastoid muscle, histopathology examination confirmed diagnosis well-circumscribed intramuscular lipoma. Follow-up after one year no evidence recurrence.

Sternocleidomastoid intramuscular lipoma
Lipoma is the most common benign soft tissue tumour with most located in the superficial subcutaneous plane. However, some are located in the deeper plane. Location in the head and neck regions are less common compared to the other parts of the body. Deep seated lipomas are either inter-muscular or intramuscular. We present a case of a simple subcutaneous neck lipoma in a 60-year-old Malay man ...

Intramuscular lipomas are unusual benign mesenchymal tumours, which infiltrate the skeletal muscle, and are exceedingly rare in the head and neck region. They commonly infiltrate the skeletal muscle fibres from which they arise and are rarely well circumscribed. We present the only documented case of well-circumscribed intramuscular lipoma arising from the sternocleidomastoid muscle. Although t...

Purpose: Although lipomas are the most common neoplasms of the soft tissue; they are only presenting 1 to 5 percent of all of the benign neoplasms of the oral cavity. Oral lipomas affect predominantly the buccal mucosa, floor of mouth, tongue and lips. Intramuscular (infiltrating) lipoma of the tongue is an extremely rare variant of lipoma and a few cases have been reported until now. Case: A 5...

Intraoral lipomas are benign and relatively rare tumors, although they occur with higher frequencies in other areas, most especially the back, abdomen and shoulders of adults. They have no gender predilection and predominantly affect the buccal mucosa. This paper describes a case of intramuscular (infiltrating) lipoma on the buccal mucosa of a 60-year old male which is relatively rare when comp...
